Overview

This is a community project to develop pages of expanded information for each subway station on the onNYTurf Subway Map. Each page will be browsable from its respective station on the map via an expanded info window. Each page will be created as a wikipage. Any registered user of onNYTurf can edit any of these station wiki pages to improve its information. Additionally, anyone can also contribute to the improvement of this project page. However, before making changes to this page please propose the change in the Talk section below.

To protect the pages from any possible defacement, after we have a significant buildout of pages, any interested volunteers with a good track record of contribution who would like to be responsible for safe guarding the pages, will be promoted to Editor status so they can execute roll backs and any other appropriate action.

As pages reach a level of depth worthy of linking to on the map, they will be linked by hand in the Subway Map software. I guess for now email will@onnyturf.com to notify that a page is worthy of adding to the map.

Stencils or Plugins

Some plugins or stencils for various types of information should be developed, particularly for the inclusion of graphics like icons, and tables of schedule information. These will be developed once we have a few example pages and have a better idea how to structure them.

The wiki syntax needs improvement, some data structure decisions need to be made, and some language that needs to go into each page needs writing.

There is a plugin for creating subway line icons. Here are some examples, more information is available in the Wiki Help tab available at the top of the page when editing any wiki page.

There is a plugin for creating path line icons. They will automagically link to path service advisories page.

Question: How can we access pages to update individual station information? I only see 42nd St. because it's on the recently edited pages list, but how can we find a list of all the station pages so we can add and update information? Am happy to help if I can find the pages to update!

Answer: The quickest way is to browse by tags, pages are (or at least should be) tagged with the tag Subway Stations. If a page does not exist you can create it using the Create Wiki Page option at the top of the right column menu.

Layout Design Need: I don't love how the schedule information s listed. I wish it could be broken into Weekday, Weekend, Late Night, etc. But it does not seem like all the schedules are that cleanly organized. If anyone has any ideas please submit. Also the transfers stuff looks a bit chaotic. So some organizational ideas there would be most welcome Will
