New Yankee Stadium: The House YOU Will Pay For

Ok, it is time to completely debunk the myth that the Yankees are financing this stadium deal without public money. The numbers have been widely reported, but who actually reads numbers? What we need is a nice easy to understand graphic, so I have made one. The Yankee plan is being publicly financed to the tune of about $422 Million, out of the $1.3 Billion total cost. The graphic includes all the costs associated with this project, the Stadium, the Garages, and Parkland replacement costs to replace the parks they plan to steal.

Click on the image to open the Flash graphic. (You should right click to view it in another window). Once opened, if you roll over the big numbers, you will learn more details.

Note that the Yankees like to claim that they are at least financing the whole Stadium. Well, that is a bunch of bunk too. They will receive subsidized loans, tax breaks, and rent rebates, all to help lower their cost of development.

The graphic is a summary. For a more complete line item break down please see the yeomen work of FieldofSchemes.com, who's analysis this graphic is derived from.
