There is no shame at Chelsea Piers, from which came the drunk driver that killed Eric Ng. Chelsea Piers wants to cut yet another driveway from their parking lot across the westside greenway. Chelsea Piers will make it's proposal to Manhattan Community Board 4's Transportation Committee this coming Wednesday Dec 20th.

All the driveways cutting across the greenway are currently dangerous. Lights are not long enough on the westside highway for drivers to slowly turn and in and out of the driveways, there are no speed bumps to slow cars to make sure they don't accidentally hit a cyclist or running coming down the path, and as the driver who killed Eric Ng proved, better auto barriers are needed to keep cars off the greenway.

What is not needed is another driveway cutting across the path. Of course it is preposterous for Chelsea Piers to even make this proposal before general safety on the greenway is improved. But ultimately the greenway needs fewer car crossing not more, this should be immediately rejected.
