Saturday Super Stoked Spoked Seahorses Will Swarm from Sweltering Streets to Sea to Shining Sea to the Mermaid Parade!
A cyclists group is being organized to ride together in the Mermaid Parade this Saturday. And you can join in! The idea is to deckout your bike as a Seahorse or other such marine life form and join the parade as a group. To help you decorate your bike, artists collective The Change You Want To See in Williamsburg is hosting a workshop Thursday (tomorrow!).
Come decorate your bike from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM June 21st at The Change You Want to See Gallery and Convergence Stage 84 Havemeyer St, Store Front, between Metropolitan Ave & Hope St, Brooklyn NY
L to Bedford, G to Metropolitan, J/M/Z to Marcy
Make Seahorse-cycles from a template brought to you by the same creator of the gallant horse-cycles featured on the pre-RNC Paula Revere's Ride; what a treat!
The cardboard is covered. Bring whatever portable art supplies you can; brushes, utility knives, green and blue (or pink)? paint. Bring especially your horse head from Paula Revere's Ride if you have one and make a tail to match. Come to the workshop so that we can give an accurate count to Parade organizers upon advance registration.
You can contact Ian @ ianhartart.com for more information.
Then meet on June 23 at 1pm SHARP (like the spikes on a Seahorse's spine, ouch) at West 10th Street by the Cyclone in beautiful Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY. There we'll solidify how we'll sprinkle, splash, trumpet our message to folks on why we're swarming out of the sea thru surly or savory songs or slogans. Early arrival will increase our chances of riding near Hungry March Band, if we want.

Update from the comments: sounds like Hungry Marching Band will not be there, but there will be a big ol' conglomeration of brass and batucata under the Save Coney Island banner, as well as the Rude Mechanicals and an IWW band.

You don't have to bring your bike to tomorrow's workshop, and paint's there. However, some glossy greens and blues, closer to a primary blue for mixing, would be nice. Come early.
Thanks for posting this, Will, neat.
